The 42nd Infantry Division Brass Quintet (Governor’s Own) is the primary ceremonial ensemble for the 42nd Infantry Division Band. Currently under the leadership of Staff Sergeant Christian Luce and Sergeant Brody Brown, the group is comprised of five Soldier-Musicians from the New York Army National Guard. The instrumentation features SSG Luce and SGT Brown on trumpet, SSG Tessa Pettit on French horn, SFC Eric Cudworth on trombone, and SSG Christian Riesebieter on euphonium.

As part of their official military functions, the ensemble provides ceremonial support for high-level events across New York State. Recent missions include performing for the retirement ceremony of Brigadier General Isabel Smith, as well as the promotion ceremony of Colonel Jason Lefton to Brigadier General. Their missions also encompass public outreach concerts like the NYSSMA conference in Rochester, holiday observances such as Veterans Day and Memorial Day, and diplomatic engagements like the 2025 holiday event at the Swedish Embassy in Washington, D.C. To support these varied objectives, the quintet maintains a diverse repertoire, performing musical styles ranging from traditional military marches and classical literature to contemporary jazz and popular music.
